Hello, gamers! Thank you so much for such a groovy first day! I’m astounded at how well this Kickstarter has been doing and all of the support from folks. I want to say that we greatly appreciate you, your support, and your feedback! It’s going to be a hell of a ride, but glad to have you along. After just over 24 hours, we are funded. That’s crazy and awesome, and again - groovy!
I’m Dylan Birtolo, one of the designers at Lynnvander Studios and also one of the designers of Evil Dead 2. I wanted to take a moment to write an update and thank you. I also wanted to respond to some of the comments we’ve seen come up a few times, that way future and current backers can find responses easily. Rest assured, we are reading every comment that comes in! We will also update the FAQ with some of this info.
First off, let’s talk about the board. Here is a graphic of the two versions of the board side-by-side to show you the differences.
A few folks have mentioned that they are concerned about the red lines breaking immersion. First, we are going to take a look at the board and see if we can make the lines less disruptive, but still easy to see when the board is flat on the table and about an arm’s reach away and potentially under dim lighting. The second thing that we are looking at is dual-siding the board. If we can do this, our intent would be to make one side have the high-contrast map, and the other side of the board have the original map. We can’t promise anything at this stage, but we are investigating. If we can, this seems like it could be the best of both worlds.
We are also looking into adding the game board as an add-on. This was not something that was originally in the upgrade pack, so it would have to be an add-on since we can’t change the price of a reward level after folks have already backed it. But, we’ve seen this is another highly requested item, so we will see what we can do!
There’s also been a few comments asking about other languages. The short answer is that it is extremely unlikely. For those who don’t know, the effort for getting a game in another language is strongly dependent on the number of components in the game that would need to be translated. Some games are relatively easy to have multi-language support. These are games that have no text on any of the components. In those games, you only need to print a rulebook in multiple languages. Heck, some games even print a single rulebook with multiple languages in it, that way there is only one SKU. Unfortunately, Evil Dead 2 has a fair number of components with text on them, which would all need to be translated and would have different setup costs to arrange the printing. Plus, there are the logistics involved with supporting multiple language SKUs. Of course, if this game blows up, this is something that becomes more likely and we will gladly investigate it.
Finally, I wanted to let you know that Tommy will be streaming on Sunday, at around 4 p.m. Eastern time. This is going to be one of his classical True Talk streams, where he will talk about the game, its history, where it came from, and how we got to this campaign. It will be available on our YouTube and Twitch channels, so tune in if you can!
Alright - I think that covers it! Please feel free to shoot us any questions or comments you have. We will keep you updated! We're excited to see how this goes.
Stay groovy!
